Placement Test Requirements
In accordance with Arkansas law, all full-time, first-time, degree-seeking students are tested in math, English, and reading and are placed in classes based on those test scores. North Arkansas College accepts ACT and COMPASS scores for placement purposes. Northark policy requires that full-time, degree-seeking students who are placed into college preparatory classes register for those classes upon initial enrollment at the college. The following is the placement scale used by Northark for placement in the Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Science in Agriculture Food and Life Science, and Associate of Applied Science Degrees:

Students who are placed into two or more college preparatory courses are required to take ORT 1003 College Success Skills. Students must complete college preparatory classes with a grade of “C” or better to advance to the next level.
Each certificate has a different placement scale. Students entering a certificate program are placed using the scale designed for the program they have chosen. Students should check with an advisor if they have questions about their placement.
