State Representative Bryan King Named Northark’s 2007 Distinguished Alumnus
State Representative Bryan King of Green Forest was honored in Hot Springs as North Arkansas College’s 2007 Distinguished Alumnus during the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges Conference.
Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe was the speaker for the event, which recognized the
outstanding graduate of each of Arkansas’s 22 two-year colleges. Each college’s Academic All-Star was also honored at the brunch.
A 1996 graduate of Green Forest High School, Rep. King started taking classes at Northark in the fall of 1984 while he was still in high school. He continued as a part-time student in the fall of 1985 and spring of 1986, and started as a full-time student in the fall of 1986.
King attended Northark full-time from 1986-1988. He transferred to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a minor in business. He returned to Northark for additional courses in the fall of 1996 and spring of 2000.
A graduate of LeadAR Class (Leadership Arkansas, a program of the Cooperative Extension Service), King was the 2003 Farm Bureau Young Farmer Discussion Meet Champion. He is a past chairman of the North Arkansas College Agriculture Advisory Board and a past recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Carroll County Extension Service.
A poultry and cattle farmer, King has maintained his interest in North Arkansas College over the years and is especially supportive of the college’s efforts to enhance its agriculture program and offer transfer and vocational classes on site in Carroll County.
