Welcome to the Beta Beta Delta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at North Arkansas College.  


Our Mission:
"The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students.  To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence."

History of Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa was founded in 1918 by presidents of 8 Missouri junior colleges for women.  The presidents sought to form an honor society with a common character, standard and similarity of organization.  Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership, and service programming. In 1924 a constitutional amendment expanded the scope of the society to reach all junior colleges.   In 1925 the first coed colleges and charters outside Missouri were granted.  In 1929, the American Association of Community Colleges recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honors society for two-year colleges.  North Arkansas College became a member in 1995.   Today, Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 2million members and 1200 chapters located in the United States, U.S. territories, Canada, and Germany.

What requirements do I have to meet to be a PTK member?
In order to join PTK you must meet both of the following requirements:
    1)  Completed 12 hours of college level coursework at Northark 
    2)  Have and maintain a 3.3 GPA  
To remain in good standing you must maintain a 3.3 GPA, attend 2 meetings per semester, and participate in one community service project per semester.

How do I join?
If you meet the requirements to join PTK you will receive an invitation letter during our enrollment period, which is typically at the beginning of the fall semester.  You will need to fill out the application included in the letter.  The application with dues then need to be returned to the PTK advisor.

Once you join PTK, here are the ways you can stay involved
1)  By joining PTK you will be added to the PTK email list-serve, which will keep you up to date on all important events.
