Northark Pioneer Hands
The Pioneer Hands Program at North Arkansas College provides students with an opportunity to gain hands on experience in the various agriculture fields. The Pioneer Hands Program will aid in projects associated with the environment, natural resource conservation, soil and water conservation, plant and fiber production, and hold strong emphasis in advanced animal science practices.
Membership:
Students interested in obtaining an academic extra curricular activity and strong ties in the agriculture industry may wish to purchase their membership in the North Arkansas College Pioneer Hands Club.
You can now be included in an online community for Northark Pioneer Hands on the Northark Portal. Membership in this group will allow you to access social networks, send email and chat with other members sharing common interests. Eligibility:
- A minimum high school GPA of 2.0
- Participation in at least one year of high school Agriculture
- Obtain and maintain a 2.0 GPA at North Arkansas College
- Full Time Status is not required
Example Project:
An example of a Pioneer Hands project may be:
A local producer needs to wean, process, and vaccinate 20 calves. The members and advisor may all pull together to implement modern livestock handling (horseback and ground work) to get calves up and worked.
Students in the Northark FFA and Northark Farm Bureau are automatically members of the Pioneer Hands Program.
