Medical Coding Specialist


 This one-year certificate program is designed to allow the student to start work as a coder in a physician's office or health care facility.  Coding specialists analyze health records and assign codes to medical data.  The codes classify diagnoses and procedures for use in medical research, reimbursement, and health care planning.  Upon completion of the program and after adequate experience in coding, the student may take the Certified Coding Specialist (C.C.S.) Examination.



Admissions:


In order to complete the admission process, prospective students must provide the Northark Admissions Office with the following information:
  1. An official application for admission.
  2. ACT or COMPASS test scores.  (COMPASS Test is given at Northark, for information contact the Admissions Office)
  3. Immunization records for measles and rubella; if born 1/1/1957 or after.
  4. An official copy of transfer transcript if credit is to be awarded from other institutions.  First-time entering student must submit high school transcript.
