Surgical Technology
North Arkansas College offers a 9-month certificate program and a 2-year associate degree program. The Surgical Technology Program prepares graduates to function in the operating room as members of the surgical team in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgery. The curriculum combines classroom and laboratory instruction with actual surgical suite experience. Success completion of the program prepares the graduate to write the National Certification Examination to become a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). Below you will find information about the Surgical Technology Program application process. All forms must be received by April 1 in order to be considered a candidate for the Surgical Technology Program:

- All college and/or high school transcripts (transcript request form)
*All high school and college transcripts need to be OFFICIAL transcripts. The applicant will need to notify each school and ask the school to mail his/her transcript to Northark.

Selection Process
Admission into the program is by selection. Approximately 2 weeks after application deadline, each applicant will receive information about interview dates. It is therefore important to notify the Program Director of any address change. A selection committee composed of faculty members, advisory members, affiliation staff and the Program Director conducts interviews. Members of the committee will score the individual by considering grade point average (GPA), previous academic accomplishments, COMPASS/ASSET/ACT scores and personal skill accomplishments. Prior to the interview date, students must complete an observation rotation in the operating room. Contact the Program Director for information or to schedule an observation time.
Upon acceptance into the program, you will need to submit the following forms and information before entering the program or on the first day of class:
- Health Information Form
- Current CPR certification
Immunization Records for: - Rubella Vaccine or positive titer
- Negative TB Skin test or negative Chest x-ray,
- Hepatitis B Vaccine or waiver
- Varicella Vaccine or waiver
